Provencal charm and breathtaking views
Bonnieux is another magnificent Luberon hilltop village, offering panoramic views of hills and lavender fields.
The Vieille Église de Bonnieux, located at the top of the village, offers spectacular views of the Luberon. Built in the 12th century, the church is surrounded by majestic cedar trees, adding a touch of serenity to the setting. From here, visitors can embark on hikes to the Forêt des Cèdres, where they'll find numerous walking trails suitable for all levels.
The Bonnieux market, held on Friday mornings, is a great place to sample local produce: olives, tapenade, cheeses and, of course, the famous Provence honey. The village's restaurants offer traditional Provencal dishes, to be enjoyed on sunny terraces overlooking the Luberon.
Located a few kilometers from Bonnieux, Pont Julien is a well-preserved Roman bridge dating from the 1st century B.C. The bridge is an impressive example of Roman architecture, and is surrounded by rural landscapes that are ideal for cycling or walking.
