Terroir

Gigondas

The Gigondas terroir, nestling at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, is renowned for the exceptional quality and strength of its wines. This vineyard benefits from a complex and varied soil, composed mainly of red clay, marl and limestone. These rich, well-drained soils, combined with a sunny Mediterranean climate, provide excellent conditions for growing the Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre grape varieties. As a result, our Gigondas has a fine structure, intense aromas of red and black fruit and great depth.

Aromatic and Taste Profile

Nose

The first nose reveals intense aromatic richness, dominated by ripe, almost stewed black fruit aromas. The dominant aromas are blackberry, black cherry and blackcurrant. These fruity notes are complemented by spicy nuances of black pepper, licorice and garrigue, typical of the terroirs of the southern Rhône Valley. Aging in old barrels adds delicate touches of tobacco, leather, cocoa and a hint of vanilla, while leaving the fruity aromas intact.

Mouth

On the palate, this Gigondas is opulent and structured. Grenache, the dominant grape variety, adds roundness and fruity sweetness, while Syrah and Mourvèdre add depth, structure and powerful yet silky tannins. Cinsault adds finesse and elegance. The 18 months of barrel ageing have melted the tannins, making the wine harmonious and balanced, with a beautiful complexity. Flavors of jammy black fruits, sweet spices, leather and precious woods.

Final

The finish is long, persistent and harmonious, marked by freshness and a subtle minerality that balances the wine's richness. Dark fruit aromas and spicy notes persist, accompanied by a light woody touch that heralds excellent ageing potential.
